With about three decades in the music industry doing just about everything there is to do, one would understand if Yank Barry stopped there, but he didn’t. Following his music career, he became a successful businessman and has decided to follow that as a first-class philanthropist. And he is probably best known for his giving these days. Along with several philanthropic partners like Muhammad Ali and Gary “U.S.” Bonds, Yank Barry set up one of the most effective hunger initiatives in the world. The Global Village Champions Foundation has supplied more than one billion meals to hungry people over the course of 20 years.

That is just the beginning, since his philanthropy also brings shelter, medicine and more to many people the world has forgotten. For his efforts, Yank Barry has received numerous awards and accolades from all corners of the world, including India, Côte D'Ivoire, the Bahamas and Mexico. Just last year, Yank and Yvette Barry received the Childhelp International Achievement Award and he has received three nominations for the Nobel Peace Prize so far.
